Muted reaction from EU to US China trade deal agreement

The French president Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday that he hoped a new trade agreement between China and the United States would not lead to new tensions between the US and the EU.

As part of the Phase 1 deal, China has agreed to buy $200 billion of US products over the next two years.

But tensions remain between Washington and the EU remain, with President Trump having threatened to impose further sanctions on EU goods.
