US Senate passes Hong Kong human rights act unanimously

US Senators have unanimously passed legislation aimed at protecting human rights in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act will now go to the lower house of representatives, which earlier approved its own version of the measure.

The two chambers are expected to resolve their minor differences swiftly before the legislation is sent to President Donald Trump for his approval.
