UK Brexit Secretary Stephen Barclay's meeting EU chief negotiator Michel Barnier for talks in Brussels (Friday).
Mr Barnier told diplomats on Thursday the UK's current proposals to avoid an Irish border backstop are unworkable.

It comes as speculation grows about the legal avenues the government is exploring to avoid requesting a Brexit extension as required by new legislation if a deal isn't reached.
Former Conservative Prime Minister Sir John Major believes that's where Boris Johnson's administration is heading.
