Uganda Airlines was grounded nearly two decades ago over financial mismanagement.

It is now ready to take off.

The inaugural flight to Nairobi had government officials and journalists on board.

Fares on the Entebbe-Nairobi route have been among the most expensive in the region with a ticket going for as high as $600.

Uganda airlines will be having promotional flights with some fares dropping to around $200.

The airline will however face competition from regional airlines like Kenya and Rwanda airways which fly the same routes.
