Messaging app WhatsApp has experienced a hack, in which surveillance software had been remotely installed on phones and other devices.
Newspaper The Financial Times reported the cyber attack was developed by Israeli security firm NSO Group, but the group said the technology used is licensed to authorised government agencies for the sole purpose of fighting crime and terror.
