Top White House economic contradicts Trump, says US 'will pay' for new China-tariffs


We're right where we want to be with China' the message from the US President on Sunday as the trade dispute between the world's two largest economies continued to escalate

The sides failed to agree terms last week in the latest round of negotiations, just as Mr Trump announced a major tariff hike on $200 billion dollars worth of Chinese goods.

The White House has now begun the process of slapping Beijing with an additional set of levies on a further $300 billion dollars of products.

China has threatened unspecified countermeasures in response

Speaking over the weekend on Fox News, Larry Kudlow, a top economic adviser to the White House said negotiations were still alive...
