ASSANGE TO CONTEST EXTRADITION TO US

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has confirmed he will fight extradition to the United States, in a court hearing in London.

He appeared via video-link from custody.

The US wants him to face charges over the leaking of government secrets.

Julian Assange was sentenced to 50 weeks in jail on Wednesday for skipping bail in 2012.

UK correspondent Olly Barratt says his extradition case may now take some time to conclude.
