UN meet on climate change and its threat to peace and security

The United Nations Security Council has held its first open debate on
the subject of climate change since 2011.

The Dominican Republic's Foreign Minister has chaired the meeting and
roughly 75 council members and representatives from other states had
the chance to address the council.

There's widespread concern about the impacts of climate change but
translating that into tangible action remains a challenge for the
world body.

William Denselow reports from UN headquarters in New York.
