Brexit: PM defends plans to renegotiate Irish backstop

The UK Prime Minister has clashed with Britain's leader of the opposition over the government's latest plans for Brexit.


It comes as the British government is seeking to reopen negotiations with Brussels over the contentious issue of the Irish border backstop, though the EU say they are not wiling to revisit this.


Prime Minster May and opposition leader Corbyn have agreed to meet in private to search for common ground over a Brexit deal, with the Labour leader urging the Prime Mister to rule out a no-deal scenario.


And the Prime Minster also had to defend plans to come up with an alternative solution to the backstop, with MPs asking what kind of alternative arrangements the government would be hoping to achieve.
