First transgender person wins major party nomination in U.S.

Christine Hallquist has become the first transgender person in the
United States to win a major party nomination for statewide office.

On Tuesday she beat three Democrats to win the party's nomination in
Vermont's primary election in the race to be the state's next
governor.
