Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak charged with four counts of corruption

Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has appeared in court less
than two months after being voted out of office.

Mr Najib is accused of being part of a corruption scandal that saw
billions of dollars go missing from state funds.

He's charged with abuse of power and three counts of criminal breach of trust.

Each charge carries a sentence of up to 20 years behind bars and he pleaded not guilty to all four.

The U.S. Department of Justice allege that over $4.5 billion was
siphoned from the investment fund 1MDB.

The former Prime Minister could face multiple charges and U.S.
prosecutors allege that $681 million from 1MDB landed in his personal
accounts.

U.S. correspondent William Denselow reports.
