BREXIT CAMPAIGN GROUP FINED OVER RULE BREACHES

Official Brexit campaign group Vote Leave has been fined and referred to the police after being found to have broken electoral laws.

The Electoral Commission says Vote Leave filed incomplete and inaccurate financial reports, and worked together with another Brexit campaign group so that spending limits were breached.

Vote Leave denies the claims.

It comes as UK Prime Minister Theresa May faces another crucial vote in the House of Commons later, on the government's Brexit Trade Bill.

UK correspondent Olly Barratt says the Electoral Commission insists it has clear evidence of wrongdoing by Vote Leave.
