Alphabet smashes Wall St. estimates in Q2 earnings

Google's parent company Alphabet has released quarterly earnings that
far exceeded Wall Street expectations.

The tech giant posted net income for the 2nd quarter of $3.2 billion
sending the stock up over 5% in after-hour trading.

This is big win for the company after the European Union recently hit
Alphabet with a $5 billion fine for competition abuses.

As William Denselow reports from New York, Wall Street responded well
to figures suggesting Alphabet has spent less on directing traffic to
its search engine.
