South Sudan Peace Talks Underway in Sudan Capital Khartoum

 

INTRO

Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni is brokering talks between South Sudan President Salva Kiir and and his former deputy Riek Machar in Sudan in Khartoum. 

 

The Eastern Africa regional bloc The Inter-Government Authority on Development, or IGAD asked Sudan to host a new round of talks to end the nearly two years of political crisis since Dr Riek Machar fled the country following fighting.

The Khartoum summit is a follow up to inconclusive talks held on 20 June in Addis Ababa.
