WASHINGTON OPTIMISTIC ABOUT KIM TALKS

Washington is expressing cautious optimism that progress can be made between Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un when they meet in Singapore next month.

On Thursday President Trump announced the two men would hold talks in Singapore on June 12th.

It followed the return home of three US detainees released by Pyongyang.

Donald Trump wants Kim Jong Un to agree to give up his weapons and nuclear programme.

Washington correspondent Harry Horton says the President already thinks a lot has been achieved.
