NASA to launch planet hunting satellite

A satellite capable of detecting planets that may be able to support life will launch later [23:32GMT Monday] from Cape Canaveral.

The 337-million dollar Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite, or TESS, will search for thousands of so-called exoplanets orbiting other stars, with the hope of finding the potential for life outside our solar system.

Reporter Steve Mort at the Kennedy Space Center says the NASA probe will study 85 percent of the sky over the next two years.
