The United States has imposed an arms embargo on South Sudan.
The civil war has pushed 1.5 million people to the brink of famine and millions have fled the conflict in the world's youngest country.
The embargo is largely symbolic because South Sudanese forces acquire arms from elsewhere.
But it comes just days before a new round of peace talks being hosted in Ethiopia next week.
