ARMED OFFICER AT PARKLAND SHOOTING FAILED TO INTERVENE

It's emerged that an armed officer assigned to the Florida school where a fatal shooting took place last week was outside the building as the incident unfolded.

Deputy Scot Peterson was on campus, in uniform, and armed, but did not intervene.

He was suspended after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School which left 17 dead and has now resigned.

It comes after US President Donald Trump suggested arming some teachers could prevent further school shootings.

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel says he is 'devastated' by the armed officer's conduct.
