German SPD party agrees to enter coalition talks

Germany's Social Democratic party has voted to enter into formal negotiations with Angela Merkel's conservatives about forming a new government, signaling a possible end to a four-month period of uncertainty.

Three hundred sixty delegates of the center-left SPD party voted to enter the talks, while two hundred seventy nine opposed the idea.
