US President Donald Trump says he's ordered extreme vetting measures to be stepped up after the terror attack in New York.
A 29 year-old man was shot by police after driving a truck into people in Lower Manhattan, killing 8 and injuring 11.
Officials say it was a terror attack, which makes it the deadliest in New York since 9/11.
It's reported a note in the truck refers to the Islamic State group.
But US correspondent Giles Gibson says exactly what President Trump means when he says vetting will be increased - is unclear.
