NFL wants to honor flag, address issues behind protests

America's professional football league wants players to stand for the National anthem, but Commissioner Roger Goodell is indicating, he doesn't intend to force the issue.

U.S. President Donald Trump has denounced Commissioner Goodell, posting on social media, "The NFL has decided that it will not force players to stand for the playing of our National Anthem. Total disrespect for our great country!"

The U.S. Supreme Court first ruled in the 1940s that displays of patriotism cannot be enforced, a postion the nation's highest court has upheld repeatedly.
