US imposes more sanctions on Venezuelan officials

The US has placed sanctions on eight individuals associated with the new constituent assembly which is expected to rewrite Venezuela's constitution.

Washington has criticized the vote to create the new body as a move designed to strengthen President Nicolas Maduro's grip on power.
