UN officials, diplomats alarmed over violence, human rights in Myanmar's Rakhine State

At the United Nations, concerns are growing over escalating tension in Myanmar's Rakhine State, amid reports of intensifying violence and as tens of thousands of Rohingyas flee into Bangladesh. 


A UN human rights expert has expressed alarm at the humanitarian situation, and Security Council diplomats are calling for de-escalation.
