The British government is expected to tell EU negotiators next week the European Court of Justice will no "direct jurisdiction" in the UK after Brexit.
A new Downing Street policy paper suggests it's "neither necessary nor appropriate" for the ECJ to continue to have a role.
Critics say the wording leaves open the possibility the court may still exert influence after the UK leaves the bloc.
