German court backs Stuttgart diesel ban

A court in Germany has backed a plan to ban older diesel cars in the city of Stuttgart in a blow to German carmakers who have proposed alternate solutions to address poor air quality.

The ban, which is subject to appeal, could set a precedent for other cities in Germany.
