Police has unearthed a crude oil smuggling ring that siphoned off nearly 50 million litres of crude oil from India's largest onshore oil field.

The theft at the Cairn India oilfield went undetected for nearly six years. Police have now arrested 25 people. The estimated loss is pegged at $7 million.
