Senior Republican Paul Ryan has criticized US President Donald Trump's pressure on former FBI Director James Comey.
Ryan said the FBI should be "independent", and it was therefore "obviously" not appropriate for Trump to ask Comey for his loyalty, as Comey claims.
Ahead of publicly testifying before Congress later on Thursday, Comey released his prepared statement in which he also claims the President asked him to drop inquiries into the Trump administration's links to Russia.
Paul Ryan was speaking to MSNBC's Greta Van Susteren.
