A Chinese researcher claims that China's official population estimates are wrong. This makes India the world's most populated country. He claims India's population is at about 1.32 billion right now.
The researcher also alleges that over the last 26 years China has overestimated the country's population by about 90 million. Last year China abandoned its one-child policy following concerns of a rapidly ageing population.
