Final assault on Mosul expected to be ‘extremely violent’

A senior U.S. official has warned that the final push to retake the
Iraqi city of Mosul could be 'extremely violent.'

Iraqi forces have been working to push the so-called Islamic State out
for nearly eight months but progress has been slow with thousands of
civilians still trapped in the city.
