Filibuster expected for Supreme Court nominee

Senate Democrats have enough votes to filibuster a full floor vote on Neil Gorsuch to join the U.S. Supreme Court.

A filibuster is when 60 votes are required for cloture - that is, ending debate on a vote.

Republicans have denounced what they call the politicization of the Supreme Court nomination process, but it was Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell who refused to move forward on the nomination of Merrick Garland, then U.S. President Barack Obama's choice for the court.

Senator Dianne Feinstein, the top ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, explained why she cannot vote for Neil Gorsuch.
