Democrats chose to block final vote on US Supreme Court nominee

The Democrats have enough votes in the U.S. Senate to employ the filibuster and block the full floor vote of Neil Gorsuch to join the U.S. Supreme Court.

But the Republicans still have one option to get the vote through, a parliamentary move which is expected to change politics significantly.

The Democrats are quick to note that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refused to move forward on President Obama's pick to fill the seat, Merrick Garland, an unprecendented event.

Now the White House is unhappy, as spokesman Sean Spicer pointed out, a filibuster of Neil Gorsuch would be historic.
