After poll criticism, Turkish President slams Europe for "crusader mentality"

The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has accused Europe of having a "crusader mentality" after European monitors faulted the fairness of the country's weekend referendum.


The Turkish Prime Minister has approved a three-month extension to the country's state of emergency after President Erdogan won sweeping new powers in the poll.


But Cezar Florin Preda, who led the European monitoring mission, says the vote did not live up to international standards.
