German SPD party united behind Schulz, hopes to unseat Merkel

Germany's SPD party officially chose Martin Schulz as their candidate to challenge Angela Merkel as chancellor, with the the former EU official receiving one hundred percent of the votes from party delegates.

Recent polling suggests that Merkel could be vulnerable in September's elections.
