Top US intelligence officials dismiss Assange claims, endorsed by Trump, on Russian hacking

Top US intelligence officials have said they have no confidence in comments made by Wikileaks founder Julian Assange that have been echoed, on Twitter, by US President-elect Donald Trump.

The Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and Under Secretary of Defense Marcel Lettre are testifying on Capitol Hill about Russia's involvement in the hacking of the Democratic Party's computer servers.

They dismissed claims by Julian Assange, repeated by Donald Trump, that Russia was not the source of Democratic Party documents published by Wikileaks in this exchange with Senator John McCain, a prominent Trump critic.
