Roman Polanski turns down invitation to preside over French film wards after backlash

The film director Roman Polanski won't be presiding over France's most prestigious film awards ceremony - after the French Cinema Academy's decision to appoint him caused a huge controversy. 
The director has lived in France since fleeing the US in 1977 after a 13-year-old girl accused him of drugging and raping her.
