Plan in place for US foreign policy as transition continues

The incoming Trump administration has requested some 50 key aides from the Obama administration to ensure continuity of operations during the transition.

U.S. Undersecretary of Political Affairs Thomas Shannon will essentially serve as acting U.S. Secretary of State until Rex Tillerson is confirmed and sworn into office.

U.S. State Department spokesman John Kirby is confident American diplomatic operations will continue, even if U.S. foreign policy may change in the future.
