UN increases humanitarian appeal for northeast Nigeria to $1 BN

The United Nations has increased its funding appeal for northeastern
Nigera's humanitarian needs. The world body said on Friday that $1BN
-- up from half-a-billion --- is needed to assist the millions of
people affected by the militant Boko Haram insurgency.
