Bomb safely detonated near US embassy in Philippines

Police in the Philippines have safely detonated a home-made explosive
device found near the US embassy in the capital Manila.

The device was found in a bin about 200 meters away from the compound
and officials say the bomb could have been planted by a group that has
pledged allegiance to the so-called Islamic State.
