US hopes for change of tone from Philippines' Duterte

The U.S. is hoping there is a change in tone from Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte.

While he was on a state visit in Bejing, he announced the intention to separate from the relationship with the United States, but now is saying he does not intend to sever the relationship.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest says Washington is hopeful that this apparently change in tune is accurate.
