US claims progress against the Islamic State

The Obama administration is claiming progress in it's fight against the Islamic State.

While the United Nations says Aleppo is a slaughterhouse, the U.S. says it remains focused on fighting the Islamic State, not fighting the Assad regime.

With the Islamic State reportedly taking Iraqi families to be used as human shields in Mosul, the U.S. again says they are focused on supporting the Iraqis in retaking their city.

At the White House, spokesman Josh Earnest says progress is being made.
