The United Nations is warning that up to one million people may be forced form their homes in the Iraqi city of Mosul. It comes as the Iraqi army continues its operation to recapture the country's second largest city which was overtaken by the so called Islamic State two years ago.
Iraqi forces are approaching from the south while Kurdish forces advance from the east, clearing villages before they get to the city. The forces, which are joined by Sunni Arab tribesmen and Shia paramilitary groups plan to circle the city before entering it.
Humanitarian groups have expressed grave concern for the city's residents.
Jens Laerke, the spokesman for the UN's humanitarian office says they are standing by to offer assistance.
