The British Government has backed plans for a third runway at Heathrow Airport, saying it will bring benefits to the country's economy.
The long-awaited and often delayed decision comes after a study last year recommended expanding capacity at Heathrow.
However, many members of the public and indeed several MPs have been against this decision.
There will now be a long consultation process before the decision is finalised. But UK Transport Secretary Chris Grayling told the House of Commons why the government has reached its decision and what advantages a third runway at Heathrow will bring.
