STATE OF EMERGENCY IN CHARLOTTE

A state of emergency's been declared in the US city of Charlotte after fresh protests over the police killing of a black man.

A second night of violence in the North Carolina city has left one person in a critical condition.

Demonstrators took to the streets again over the shooting of Keith Lamont Scott on Tuesday.

Police say he refused to drop a handgun - his family says he was reading a book.

This woman joined the protests in Charlotte, despite the possibility of clashes with riot police.
