Obama Holds First Solo Campaign Rally for Hillary Clinton

US President Barack Obama has attended his first solo campaign rally for Hillary Clinton, in the East Coast city of Philadelphia.

His appearance had already been scheduled and was unrelated to Mrs. Clinton's decision to take a few days off the campaign trail after being diagnosed with pneumonia.

Mr. Obama defended his former Secretary of State, her campaign's transparency and her fitness for the Presidency - and said Republicans were encouraging anger and hatred.

Speaking to a crowd of around 6000 people outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the President said he felt Hillary Clinton would carry on his legacy:
