HAMMOND: DON'T BREAK UP CITY OVER BREXIT

Britain's finance minister is warning it would be a 'huge mistake' if other European cities try to take over London's place as a major financial capital after the Brexit vote.

Chancellor Philip Hammond says any curbs on immigration brought in as Britain leaves the EU will not apply to European bankers and highly-skilled businesspeople.

And he insists it's in the EU's interests for the City of London to remain a global financial capital.

Danny Cox of stockbroker Hargreaves Lansdown says Mr Hammond wants to safeguard the City while boosting the economy.
