The two leading presidential candidates in Zambia's elections have cast their votes. Incumbent President Edgar Lungu of the Patriotic Front is challenged by the long-time opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema in what is expected to be a closely fought election. After casting his ballot Mr Hichilema called for the poll to be carried out fairly.
