CHINA WARNS UK OVER INVESTMENT SUSPICIONS

China has issued a warning to the UK about 'unwanted accusations' over the motive behind its investments in the country.

It follows a delay by the UK government over a decision on pressing ahead with the Hinkley nuclear power plant, which is due to be part funded by China.

It's reported new UK Prime Minister Theresa May has concerns around national security with regards to China's part in the project.

The state-run news agency Xinhua says it cannot understand "suspicious approach that comes from nowhere to Chinese investment".

Laith Khalaf of stockbroker Hargreaves Lansdown says it's a difficult balance for Theresa May.
