Australian Royal Commission steps down over conflict of interest claims

A royal commission into child abuse in Australia's Northern Territory detention centres would be a waste of time without the backing of indigenous people, according to a former senator.
The comments came as the man announced to head the commission stepped down over a perceived conflict of interest and a former judge and a senior eminent Aboriginal were appointed to replace him.
