The U.S. military is pushing back, saying nothing has changed in the military relationship with Turkey.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused U.S. General Joseph Votel, the head of U.S. Central Command, of taking sides and supporting coup attempt.
At the Pentagon, spokesman Peter Cook rejected these assertions:
IN: "The United States....
OUT: ...Turkish counterparts."
DUR: 27
CIA Chief James Clapper has also suggested that the attempted coup and the resulting crackdown could impact joint military operations, especially against the Islamic State.
Pentagon Spokesman Peter Cook says the U.S. has its concerns, but wants to see operations to continue unchanged, especially at the airbase at Incirlik.
IN: "Making sure...
OUT: ...Votel as well."
DUR: 36
