India is one of Africa's major trading partners and it is seen to be deepening its relations with the continent under Modi's leadership.
In South Africa, the Indian Prime Minister will hold talks with host President Jacob Zuma, before meeting the Indian community there
South Africa and India are both members of the BRICS, a block of five partner countries including Brazil, Russia and China
Modi's visit winds up in East Africa where both the US and Chinese presidents have also recently visited
He will be in Kenya for bilateral talks and briefly in Tanzania to boost relations
